Their respective clubs took them yesterday over money owed from COSAFA campaign. ZIFA are currently running around to try to have the match postponed to tomorrow to allow time for them to put their house in order.

Mighty Warriors were supposed to play the return fixture to book a consecutive Olympic appearance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, after a horror show in Lusaka on Wednesday where they were thrashed 5-0.

ZIFA has been under fire for neglecting the girl child amid reports that the preparations for the first leg was in shambles as the girls travelled to Zambia by road on Monday and arrived barely 48 hours before the match was due to kick-off.

There was no camping for the team ,and after the defeat ,furious Sithethelwe ‘Kwinji 15’ Sibanda said,

“We are our own worst enemy. Football doesn’t lie, if you don’t prepare well, you don’t do well. We just met at the bus terminus without even training that’s why we were forced to make substitutions in the first half because the girls had fatigue after travelling by road,” .

“We struggled in the second half and Zambia came back stronger because their players have pace and skill on the ball.”

The Mighty Warriors won many hearts at the last Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after they were pitted in a difficult group that included giants Germany, Australia and Canada.

But since the Rio Games, the Zimbabwe women’s soccer team has been on a downward spiral without any meaningful assistance from the football body.
