A Banket man has been dragged to court for allegedly intoxicating a 16-year-old boy before sodomising him during a funeral wake.
Bright Mutero (39) of Dunlone farm, Trelawney in Banket was last week set to appear before Chinhoyi provincial magistrate Tapiwa Banda charged with indecent assault.
However, the matter was adjourned to 5 July due to a Covid-19 outbreak at the courts.
The Chinhoyi Magistrates Court is one of the seven centres closed after some staffers tested positive for coronavirus.
Allegations are that on 9 June this year, and at Peranpoth farm, Trelawney in Banket, Mutero was attending a funeral with the boy who works as a tuck-shop attendant.
It is alleged Mutero, and the boy proceeded to the shop where he asked to be given on credit. some beer and bread for consumption at the funeral.
Following the transaction, they went back to the funeral and started drinking beer.
Later, Mutero, the teenager and his friends went to sleep in his tent.
After a while, Mutero allegedly slipped his hand into the drunken teenager’s trousers and started caressing his manhood.
The complainant woke up the following morning at around 6 am feeling some pain on his genitals and confided in a friend on the abuse.
The tuck-shop owner, the boy’s mother and a member of the police neighbourhood watch committee were informed before the matter was referred to Banket police station leading to Mutero’s arrest.
The boy was taken to Banket district hospital for medical examination. newzimbabwe
