South African President Cyril Ramaphosa was today booed in the capital during the memorial of the late President Robert Mugabe. Once the South African Leader came on stage, he was booed by Zimbabweans who felt he was not doing enough to end the current wave of xenophobia in his country.
The Director of ceremonies had a torrid time containing the crowd who did not want to hear Ramaphosa’s speech. After getting the platform to speak Ramaphosa apologized for xenophobia:
“In the last two weeks, we have had violence against other Africans, and I can hear you are responding to that. I stand before you as a fellow African to express my regret and apologize for what has happened in our country”
