ED not attending Mugabe burial
Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage minister Cain Mathema is expected to head the government delegation to Zvimba for the burial of the late former president Robert Mugabe as President ED is not attending the burial.
This follows reports that President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is expected to land in the country Friday night from the UN General Assembly will not attend the burial of his predecessor.
“Government is sending a delegation led by home affairs minister (Mathema) because the president will not attend the burial ceremony,” said a source
According to reports by Zim Morning Post Mathema is expected to read a speech on behalf of Mnangagwa at the burial which is scheduled for Saturday if things go according to plan.
The family came to the conclusion of burying him at his rural home amid reports his body was no longer fit to be kept with no burial in sight.
